LAMU POLE POLE – PLACES TO VISIT IN LAMU

Lamu is a small old town. Soon after you have exhausted all the activities chances are you want to find places to chill. So here are some of the places you can visit for relaxation and just take it pole pole (slow).

THE MAJLIS RESORT

We spent an afternoon swimming, chilling and in the evening we had our dinner. The place is serene. In addition, it’s an excellent place to get a massage. They charge $5 and $50 for swimming and massage respectively. The price varies with the type of massage.

YACHT TOUR

We had the pleasure of touring the biggest yatch in East Africa with a capacity of 14 crew members. Jambo Yatch has excellent packages on luncheons and parties.

PEPONI RESTAURANT

Oooooh my, peponi is just an exemplary of fine dining. I’ve cut out eating out to save on trips when I’m home. So this was an amazing opportunity to spoil myself. I spent $45 on main meal, dessert and wine.

Pros: The food was to die for. I’d give it a 9/10.

Cons: The manager was a bit biased towards us.

Add-on

Chocolate cake topped with ice cream cream.

MANDA BAY HOTEL

Manda Bay is far North. We didn’t manage to enter the place because we had an itinerary to follow but you should spend a day there. They charge $35 for lunch and you can use any of their facilities. Ps. It’s the most expensive hotel in Lamu.

FLOATING BAR

The floating bar is an experience you don’t want to miss. We slept in on the first night because of the hustle that involves reaching the floating bar but on the second night we went all out. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

THE LAMU CREW

Jawad (We nicknamed him Zawadi) was our tour guide. He was very helpful. He knew everything including where to get our liquor. If you’re in Shela ask for him. He’ll make your visit worth while.
